The Pro Mechanic HD Workstand was awarded ‘Gear of the Year’ by Josh Patterson at MTBR.com for 2022, for filling a niche between lightweight, portable field stands and heavy-duty workshop stands capable of servicing heavy enduro and E-Bikes.
It is distinguished by its substantial anodised aluminium tubes, 145% stiffer than those of the Pro Elite model, extra-wide base, vice-like jaws with a 45% greater grip and a clamp opening up to 6.6cm, and lightning-fast closure – 60% faster than that of the Pro Elite – coupled with one-handed operation, courtesy of a ratcheting and rotating crank.
The clamp, meanwhile, still rotates 360°, ensuring you'll easily be able to access every part of your bike, without bending or twisting.
It doesn't compromise on ease of use and portability, either. The Pro Mechanic HD Workstand sets up and collapses rapidly, thanks to its quick-release fittings, and folds down to a scanty 13 x 20 x 115cm footprint. For all its heft, it weighs a surprisingly low 8.1kg. It is therefore suitable for competition support use, in just about any cycling arena.
