The Firebird’s geometry features a relaxed head angle for race day speed, control and manoeuvrability, while a comfortable, long reach creates room for a Super Boost Plus wheelbase, for traction, better confidence and improved climbing stability. Meanwhile, frame-specific chainstays deliver stability at speed and responsiveness for riders of all sizes.
The suspension gives a plush 165mm of travel, facilitated by an extra-long dw-link® taken from the Phoenix DH. Supple yet progressive, it works with the 170mm of fork travel to absorb hits like a pro, while combatting pedal bob. This means more traction at corners and better control. The suspension is also 4-way adjustable, so the rebound and absorption levels can be primed to match the terrain.
All Pivot bikes are hand built using the brand’s Hollow Core Carbon technology to layer the carbon to avoid imperfections, minimise weight and maximise strength. Regardless of frame size, the geometry is tweaked and the layout adjusted to achieve the same benefits of stiffness with compliance.
The Firebird offers a range of customisation opportunities. First, a flip chip ensures head tube and seat tube angles can be changed and 27.5” wheels run. A generous seat post insertion depth and seat clamp let it take a 31.6mm seat post, while the rear shock is ultra-adjustable and Fox Live Valve compatible. Finally, Super Boost Plus rear spacing works with tyres up to 29x2.6” and 27.5x2.8”.
This good-looking bike, with its striking colouring, flawless proportions and clean internal cable routing, pairs practicality with showmanship. For instance, a vertically mounted shock leaves leaves room for a full-sized water bottle, as well as the Pivot Tool Dock System on the frame.
